My Review: This story starts fast and doesn’t let up! The storyline is interspersed with illustrations and ‘classified info’ from the Fear Files giving it a really cool kind of X-Files vibe. I’ve always loved Edge’s writing and I’m hoping that this series will bring his books to an even wider audience as I’m always looking for short, snappy books to suggest. This is the first in a series and I think kids are going to love it. A fun, scary, fast-paced story.
Suggested For: fans of short, pacy horror stories.
If You Like This You Might Enjoy: The Dreadwood series by Jennifer Killick, The Crooked Oak Mysteries by Dan Smith, The Sticky Pine series by Dashe Roberts, The Goosebumps series by R. L Stine.
Blurb: Nobody knows who started the Darkive. It’s a database filled with first-hand accounts of strange, unexplained experiences. Ghosts; paranormal entities; weird anomalies. Each one is stored with a bank of evidence to prove the story. Are you ready to dive in?
Adam didn’t think his camping trip with his best friend, Sol, could get any worse. Stumbling upon an abandoned ghost town, they find themselves playing a strange game of hide and seek. But who or what is trying to find them? And can Adam stay one step ahead?
