Jones The School Librarian

Short reviews, big adventures in reading.

Avalanche

Avalanche by Simon Fox, published by Nosy Crow (Oct ’25)

My Review: This middle grade thriller even moves like an avalanche- it accelerates rapidly and it gathers weight as it as it goes. Fox’s thriller writing always seem to hit a spot that no one else does. His books are action-packed and exciting with sympathetic characters who are always concerned about something emotional but don’t dwell on it too much in the midst of all of the peril. That’s pretty much spot on for a lot of MG readers! He has a strong fan-base in our Library after Running Out Of Time was on the BookBuzz list and they’re going to love it.

Suggested For: thrill-seekers!

If You Like This You Might Enjoy: Escape Room by Christopher Edge, Below Zero by Dan Smith, Jimmy Coates: Killer (series) by Joe Craig, 21% Monster (series) by P.J. Kanning, Bodyguard (series) by Chris Bradford, Stormbreaker (Alex Rider series) by Anthony Horowitz
